Description: 

Papers of Henry Roe Cloud, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the first Native American to graduate from Yale. Roe Cloud founded the Roe Indian Institute and later worked for the Office of Indian Affairs in education and at the Umatilla Indian Agency. Roe was also an active member of the Society of American Indians, and was married to Elizabeth Bender Cloud, a prominent Native educator in her own right.
